Farewell Cobi Jones

Los Angeles Galaxy 1, New York Red Bulls 1

At the final season home game versus the Red Bulls, all we could think about was Cobi Jones' retirement.

Thank you Cobi!

LA Galaxy Make Fan Night the Best Night of All

Los Angeles Galaxy 2, Toronto FC 1

The LA Galaxy keep the playoff hopes alive by achieving a must win against Toronto FC last night at the Home Depot Center.

The Riot Squad was kind enough to pass out song sheets for fans to sing along and raise the roof. Here are lyrics to one of the songs:

YOU CAN NEVER REST EASY

  • You can never, you can never
  • You can never rest easy
  • Cos the team you're playin'
  • Is the L-A Galaxy!

Observations from the Fan in Section 131, Row B

The Galaxy owned the ball most of the game although shots on goal were below what we would have expected with that much possession. Landon Donovan played excellent, his movement of the ball, service and ability to slow his team down (as captain) during times of need showed great leadership.

Galaxy defenders controlled the sides well and most of the middle. It's a good thing Randolph has that speed because Toronto FC has a forward that is the fastest I've EVER seen in the HDC. Amazingly fast - good thing he's not a finisher.

One of the big shows on the sideline I'm on was my children (see video) and the Assistant Referee. The AR constantly missed offside calls during the game. Many were on us (LAG), but this guys was slow to staying up with the "last defender" and have the infamous big mouth and former Galaxy defender Tyron Marshall yelling at him. Todd Dunnivant, former LAG defender too, got in his share of whining.

The Goals

The goals last night we moments of sweetness. Gavin Glinton was put into a headlock by Toronto FC defender Marco Reda that drew a red card and PK. Landon converted the PK to bring the crowd to it's feet. When Toronto FC's forward Samuel scored soon after, the fans at the HDC got a little nervous. Chris Klein then sent in a great gross for service that allowed an almost drop-kick like volley from Edson Buddle that banged into the net a great speed.

Thursday night, October 18th is Cobi Jones night. We'll be there, wearing #13 with pride.

Until next week.

LA Galaxy Fans Unite!

Los Angeles Galaxy Beat Houston Dynamo, 2-1 on October 7, 2007

Who would have thought that that Galaxy would put themselves back into a playoff run after losing six games straight? The fans, that's who!

With Beckham prepared to return this Saturday at the Home Depot Center, it's definitely going to be a packed crowd and exciting game.

I'll be there with my son and daughter and with camera in hand in order to capture the true fan photos and a little video. That's right, I'm going to through a little video your way.

Carlos Pavon's goal will be helpful for his spirits as he's struggled up front all season. With Donovan's continued service, we should see some great highlights and goals on October 13th.

The Chicago Fire, the one we need to watch, is playing DC United on Saturday night too. Although DC United tied Kansas City in their last game, they are still holding first place in the East by a large margin and we hope they'll trounce the Fire Saturday night. But anything can happen in soccer - Toronto's 2-1 win over the Red Bulls for example.

The Galaxy will have to jump into a lead first in order to win on Saturday as they have had a tendency to play down to lesser teams. If Toronto scores first, I think we might struggle the rest of the night.

It's Fan Appreciation Night this Saturday so lets do it!

Check back after the game for fan photos from the second row (half line) and video!
