LA Galaxy "Rope" FC Dallas

Los Angeles Galaxy 2, FC Dallas 1

It was a great Sunday afternoon at the Home Depot Center seeing the LAG beat FC Dallas 2-1. There were a few surprises from where I was sitting (section 131, row B, seats 7&8) that deserve mentioning.

Josh Tudela
As I mentioned in my January 24, 2007 post on the Galaxy's MLS Draft Picks, Tudela seemed like an okay choice. Sunday was only his second game and he seemed to get off on a rocky start - looking for a grove and his place on the field. Certainly, by the second half, he shined and seemed to be in great control. I give him a lot of credit. To come in this late in the season and play that well is impressive. I hope he can maintain this level of play.

Ty Harden
Also from the Galaxy's draft pick, Ty Harden has really done well. He's made some mistakes, but I think Abel Xavier could do a better job communicating with him. But Ty's performance against former Galaxy forward Carlos Ruiz on Sunday was terrific. Ty kept Ruiz shut down and the frustration from the FCD forward began to show in a very visible way when Ruiz started to body check Ty and other Galaxy defenders before the ball even approached him. Yes, Ruiz knows how to play a little "dirty" but this was more than his normal bag of tricks. Good work Ty.

Cobi Jones
Cobi played in his 300th MLS game and achieved a career milestone 90th assist. One of only five other MLS players to do so. Congrats Cobi.

Kevin Harmse
Bud, you really need to play more soccer and less hockey.

LA Galaxy Fizzle versus Houston Dynamo

The only nice thing to talk about from this past Saturday's (Sept 16th) game was that we got to have our photos placed onto the http://lagalaxy.com/fanphotos web site.

Yeah.

This season has been very painful.

The LA Galaxy Are Playing as a Team!

The Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1

Saturday was a delight at the Home Depot Center as I saw the boys play like a team for the first time all season. At least this was their best team performance in my opinion as the LAG controlled the ball for most of the game.

The Midfield Impresses

Kyle Martino, Kevin Harmse, Pete Vagenas and Cobi Jones closed the gaps on the midfield to provide service and the necessary defensive support that kept Colorado from ever having any affective attack.

The Cobi Jones fans were restless and cheered on their feet most of the game. With the season close to an end, it will be sad to see Jones retire without reaching the playoffs one last time.

Joe Cannon Back in MVP Form

Joe Cannon played terrific as well and should be recognized for his saves although there were few shots from Colorado. Joe appeared "with it" and he didn't have to yell at Ty Harding much.

The true test of this momentum will come this Thursday night, September 13th, as we take on Chivas USA again. We lost to them 3-0 a few weeks ago and now, it's payback time.

Watch out goats!!!
