This is a monthly tribute to Cobi Jones' 12th and final season with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

LA Galaxy Dump Beer for Herbs

The LA Galaxy announced last week that they will dump Budweiser, The King of Beers, and have Herbalife across their jersey (thank you Mr. Gordon for the pose).

Though the green matches better than the Budeweiser red, I' a little bumbed that it's not something cool like Google. Google is just a short distance away there in Santa Monica.

I mean, you have New York with their cool bulls, DC United with Radio Shack, Chicago with Honda and now we have Herbalife. We're soooo Californian!

I am glad we're doing the advertising thing though. It shows we've grown up and can play on the same level as the rest of the world.

By the way, here's my preferred new jersey for the LAG:

Mr. Galaxy, Cobi Jones, to Retire after this Season

Yesterday, Monday, March 19, 2007, our beloved Cobi Jones announced that this will be his last season as a professional soccer player.

Although we expected it, it doesn't make it any easier to see "Mr. Galaxy" retire. Cobi has served the LAG his entire career and we will miss him when he goes, but a word for Coach Frank, give him the game time please!

Cobi's career has been impressive with 234 games played for hte LAG and 62 goals. He also was selected for the MLS All-Star team his first 9 years on the team. He also first played for the United States in 1992 and last played in four games for the national team in 2004. He has 15 goals in a U.S. record 164 international appearances, and he played every minute of the U.S. games at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, as well as appearing during the 2002 tournament.

LA Galaxy to play Chelsea FC - July 21st

Clash of the titans - East Coast versus West Coast if you know what I mean, but in this case EPL vs MLS.

I bet many think this game will be a joke and that Chelsea will beat up on the LAG, but we'll see. The hope that this may be the first game where David Beckham plays might make it seem interesting but how much can he contribute to the team during his first appearance?

Beckham isn't a one-man show type of player but rather a team player and play maker. If he can connect with the likes of Donovan and Kirk (even Santino) up front, then it might make for a very interesting game.

No doubt the parking at the HDC will suck. I remember the Real Madrid vs LAG game last year and it was just a mad house. Great game though.
