Mr. Galaxy, Cobi Jones, to Retire after this Season

Yesterday, Monday, March 19, 2007, our beloved Cobi Jones announced that this will be his last season as a professional soccer player.

Although we expected it, it doesn't make it any easier to see "Mr. Galaxy" retire. Cobi has served the LAG his entire career and we will miss him when he goes, but a word for Coach Frank, give him the game time please!

Cobi's career has been impressive with 234 games played for hte LAG and 62 goals. He also was selected for the MLS All-Star team his first 9 years on the team. He also first played for the United States in 1992 and last played in four games for the national team in 2004. He has 15 goals in a U.S. record 164 international appearances, and he played every minute of the U.S. games at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, as well as appearing during the 2002 tournament.

Here's a quick photo gallery tribute to Mr. Galaxy:

I remember watching him play in the 1st MLS season... sitting up in a Skybox at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. They played the Columbus Crew and if memory serves (it does'nt very often!) they tied 1-1.
